“I am a highly qualified and experienced tutor-governess/PA willing to undertake both short-term and long time roles. I have several years’ experience of private tutoring in diverse subjects to pupils of all ages, and have successfully prepared international children for entrance to Britain’s top schools, from Winchester, Eton and Harrow to City of London, Westminster and St. Paul’s.

Prior to tutoring, I worked as a lawyer, banker and international PA, so I have a number of different skills and experiences that I can offer.  I was brought up in Paris and London, am fluent in French and English, and am well travelled.

My father was a linguist and my mother a broadcaster, actress and artist. This gives me an interesting, cultivated background which I can draw on when helping to develop well-rounded, cultured, educated children.

I have two degrees – English Literature and Law – which have given me a background in academic rigour and discipline that I am able to pass on to my students.

My most recent tutoring experiences have been in Europe and Russia. I have tutored international pupils from all over the world, including many children of VIP families, including the daughter of the Nigerian President.

I have travelled with some of these families as a tutor-governess, and, although my main focus has usually been the children’s studies, I have accompanied my charges on organised activities whilst abroad, taking them on cultural tours, museum, theatrical and musical visits.

In a home environment, I have given lessons in English, History, Maths, Geography, Religious Knowledge, Art, History of Art, French, Drama, Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning. I have supervised homework, dealt with all school matters and prepared children for specific tests and examinations. I have also provided helpful advice on school interview techniques, and guided many international pupils with their social skills and etiquette.

Having been privately educated and having worked in the theatre, I have been able to provide specialist elocution lessons to children, enabling them to attain immaculate ‘received pronunciation’.

I have specialist experience of working with children of different backgrounds and cultures and have worked with children suffering from dyslexia, autism and Multiple Sclerosis. With the parents’ cooperation, I am adept in establishing firm boundaries for children.  I also appreciate the importance of giving encouragement and praise when deserved. I am patient and approachable, and offer unstinting support.  This enables me to develop strong bonds with children.

In my spare time, I take a keen interest in tennis, swimming and walking, and like to keep fit and eat healthily. I enjoy culture and languages and love to travel.  The places I have visited include, Africa, Asia, Egypt, Russia, most of Europe, Scandinavia and the United States.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing from you, Monica.”
