Our informal but professional client (a couple from Los Angeles, USA) with multiple residences in the South of France (near Cannes / Provence) is seeking an experienced and mature domestic couple to help manage the smooth running of their households. The family includes the Principals and older children who reside year-round and move between homes.
This is a full-time and year-round live-in position. The property near Cannes is our client’s holiday home with frequent visits during the spring and summer. The family includes the Principals and older children who reside year-round and move between homes near Cannes and Provence (multiple residences).
Both Principals work from home, so they are seeking staff who are comfortable with and respectful of a calm, low-noise environment during workdays.
Key Responsibilities:
- High-standard housekeeping and cleaning of the homes
- Daily cooking: fresh, seasonal meals; confident chef able to prepare aperitifs for guests on short notice
- Assistance with events and entertaining (informal and formal)
- Chauffeuring duties and cleaning of vehicles
- Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care
- Household organisation and systems
- Grocery shopping and running errands
- Light gardening or care of a vegetable garden is a plus
- Pet care (primarily for dogs)
- Ability to travel between residences with the family; at times, one partner may need to relocate alone for short periods
Ideal Candidates:
- Proven experience working as a domestic couple in private households
- Excellent verifiable references
- Fluent in English or French
- Clean driving licenses
- Calm, discreet, self-sufficient, and respectful of privacy
- Well presented and able to represent the household to guests and service providers
- Comfortable working independently or as a team
- EU passport or valid long-term titre de séjour (preferred)
The ideal candidates will have a strong background in private catering and hospitality, as well as previous experience working in private households and estates.
Candidate Suitability:
- Must have an EU passport or Permanent Carte de Sejour
- Previous experience in a private household
- Verifiable References
Compensation Package:
- Salary advised: €6,000 Net combined + housing + benefits
- Accommodation: Small one-bedroom apartment (on property), all utilities included
- Holidays: 5 weeks paid vacation
