We are seeking a long-term, live-in Butler-Companion/House Manager for a private, high-quality residence in a prime central location in Antwerp, Belgium.
This is a hands-on, all-rounder role combining cooking, housekeeping, household management, and light personal support. The position suits a discreet, emotionally intelligent professional who is comfortable integrating into a private home and contributing to a calm, well-organised daily environment.
This is not a formal butler role as our client values practicality, warmth, and adaptability over traditional service formality.
Household
- Private family residence, 3 floors with elevator and terrace/roof garden
- Wife (57) living with ALS, still mobile but requiring light daily support, incl. walking and driving around
- Husband (58), businessman
- One of three sons (25) living at home
- Dog, labradoodle, 4 years old
The environment is premium, respectful, private, and stable, with a focus on maintaining a comfortable and well-run household.
Key Responsibilities
Household Management & Upkeep
- Maintain the home to a high standard (hands-on cleaning and organisation)
- Laundry, ironing, wardrobe care
- Manage household supplies and shopping
- Coordinate basic logistics and occasional external services
Cooking
- Prepare daily meals (fresh, healthy, simple but high-quality)
- Plan meals and manage kitchen organisation
- Adapt to preferences and routines
Lifestyle & Household Support
- Provide structure and consistency in the home
- Support smooth day-to-day functioning of the household
- Maintain a calm, organised, and welcoming environment
- Walking dog
Light Personal Support
- Provide non-medical assistance to the wife in daily routines
- Offer attentive but non-intrusive presence
- Be comfortable adapting as needs evolve over time
Working Structure & Travel Pattern
- Full-time live-in position with a structured working rhythm and agreed rest periods
- The family is typically abroad approximately one week per month. During these periods, responsibilities focus on house oversight, security, and light upkeep
- In addition, there are typically around two months per year when the family is away for longer periods. During this time, the role shifts primarily to maintaining and servicing the residence. This structure offers a balanced rhythm between active household support and quieter periods.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in private households or relevant hospitality environments
- Comfortable in a hands-on, multi-functional role
- A capable home cook with strong organisational skills
- Discreet, trustworthy, and emotionally intelligent
- Calm, grounded, and respectful of privacy
- Comfortable in a live-in arrangement with clear boundaries
Experience with long-term or live-in roles is strongly preferred.
