House Manager For A Canadian Family In Barcelona (San Just, Live In or Live Out), Spain Required
House Manager for a canadian family in Barcelona, Spain required. The canadian family will be staying in Barcelona for one year. Employment for the house manager will be on a one year term beginning November 2011 until November 2012.
Key Duties and Responsibilities (Job description):
Booking travel for family, accommodations, day to day organization of house, managing house staff, dealing with contractors/repairs for house, any office work needed by parents (faxing, scanning, making calls, making copies etc.), any errands that need running for household, researching information on current events in Barcelona/Spain for family if needed, organizing any entertaining in the house in terms of set up, catering, menu, arranging accommodations for guests coming from overseas as well as pick up and drop off from the airport. Should speak fluent Spanish and know the city of Barcelona.
Please note:
You also need to be able to take care of the children when the parents are both away including living in the house, taking them to school, helping with homework, bathing and putting them to bed. You also need to get the children up in the morning, make breakfast and provide them with a snack.
Organize bills to be paid by household, keep accounts
Manage inventory for house
Liaise with rental agency on maintenance of house
Keep confidentiality of family and household
Help train staff and provide ongoing assessments of staff with head of household
Carry out tasks necessary to cover for sick days and holidays for other staff members
Run personal errands
Oversee wardrobe care including dry cleaning, repairs etc.
Assist with the children as necessary
Requirements:
Professional training and experience
Able to supervise staff
Can provide references
European passport holder
Happy demeanor and good with children
PC literate
Experience dealing with children
Qualified in first aid
Excellent hygiene and mannerly
Organized and good with communication
Flexible with time/overtime
Willing to work weekends if needed
Can remain calm under pressure
Able to deal with quick changing of plans
Self motivated
Not waiting to be asked to do something but taking initiative
Numbers in Household (Adults, Kids) Two adults and three children – girls aged 12, 10 and 7 years.

Size of Residence: Five bedroom house with a large yard and four car garage in San Just area of Barcelona.
Other Staff employed: Housekeeper and a cook or both with one person
